religion... a good idea, but who says?

Mood: all

I wanted to write this in Nina's notes but it got alittle long so i made it into an entry...

I'm commenting on your entry on December 12. Its really good, and now you’ve told me all your ideas on religion, I’m going to tell you mine. In no way am I saying you’re wrong- I’m just telling you my ideas. I really don’t like the fact that there is so many controversial details in the Bible, because sometimes people get so caught up in them that they can’t see the message. The small idiosyncrasies don’t matter because the priests that wrote the bible probably added them in. God didn’t say that homosexuality is bad. No one knows what God said. No one knows if there is a God. But, it’s a pretty good idea.

Ok back to the thing about controversial details. For example, you say, “Also...dinosaurs were created millions of years before the first two humans. Yet they are not mentioned in the bible. In another instance, God had created one man and one woman…” Who says Adam and Eve are human? They could be dinosaurs for all I know. They could be dinosaurs that evolved into monkeys that evolved into humans The Adam and Eve story is probably just trying to convey the fact that you should do what God tells you to do and what is right. It doesn’t matter all the crap with the snake and blah blah blah. I'm not saying that’s the truth, but it’s a good idea.

Another example is “when you die you can either go to Heaven or Hell.” Who says? I think that whatever is after life is whatever you want it to be but only if you appreciated life. I'm not saying it’s the truth, but it’s a good idea. If you did something with the life you were given then you will be rewarded. I'm not saying being famous or having money. Being a good mother is something. Planting a garden. Helping someone in need. But if you took advantage of all the freedoms of life and killed someone or something, then you will not be rewarded. If you were out partying and on drugs and never did anything important, then you don’t deserve eternal happiness, you deserve another chance at life. Here’s were reincarnation comes in. I believe God is all about 2nd chances. I'm not saying it’s the truth, but it’s a good idea.

The 3rd and final example, “The people on earth were trying to make a stairway to heaven, but God did not want this. So he made them all speak different languages.” Well, I’m not exactly sire on this one but I’m pretty sure they were doing that so they could be equal to God and at the same height. God confused them as a punishment. I suppose this story is just saying that God is higher than all. And you ask why didn’t they learn each others language- well, I doubt it was that simple. If everyone knows a different language then how are you supposed to communicate at all? No one knows 2 languages so it is impossible. And plus that’s the reason we are in Spanish and German and Latin in school- so we can learn each other’s languages. We’ve already figured out that problem.

One last thing= you say- “And I feel lost because I am torn between believing and not believing” I honestly feel the same way. I'm probably only writing this so I can convince myself that it is true. Don’t think I’m trying to contradict you because I am not. I don’t even know if what I say is true- but it’s a pretty good idea.

Dang, I really wrote too much.

quote of the day: "What can I say?" Ron unrolled the paper and examined it with a grin. "Monique just can´t get enough of me."

"Oh, you´re just stringing her along," Ginny said with a smile, reaching past Ron to get at the pumpkin juice. "You´re not serious about her."

"There are some aspects of this relationship I'm very serious about," Ron said gravely.

"And she's got quite a Wonderbra supporting those aspects," said Hermione, with a sideways evil grin.
